Loved Ones

Compassionate care with respect, support and collaboration.

Dementia care is a global issue and there are myriad resources from around the world.

Of course, friends and families are anxious to know all about your loved one’s current status and how that may change over time. We understand that questions are asked because people genuinely care about the person and want to help as best they can. Please keep in mind that the Kiwanis Pavilion follows a strict policy of confidentiality regarding our residents. This applies to their medical as well as their personal information. Our care staff may only discuss a resident’s situation with those who are designated. We know you will appreciate our respect for each individual’s privacy

Family Bulletins

Each month, we try to provide timely information about specific topics for families and friends.

Family Council

The Kiwanis Pavilion Family Council has monthly meetings and presentations on topics of interest.

It is chaired by family members of residents and supported by the Social Worker. The Family Council supports communication and collaboration between residents’ family members, friends and representatives, and staff of the facility. Updates from Family Council meetings are included in the monthly Family Bulletin. Family Council meets monthly on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 2:30 pm in the Library.

Family members are welcome to make presentations to the Kiwanis Pavilion Board. Interested parties will submit a request in writing to the Board Chair at board@obkp.org, and include contact information (phone/email), the name of the resident or the cause they represent, and their topic. Requests can be received by mail or left with the receptionist at the front desk.

A response will be given within 10 days of receipt of the request to attend the meeting.

“The Kiwanis Family Council is a wonderful way to share, help, learn from family's who have loved ones living at the Pavilion. After meeting and getting to know the family members we realize we have a lot in common! It’s a big adjustment for the family when a loved one first comes to Kiwanis. Meeting other family members reminds us we are not alone.”
